Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Advise the Malaysian management team with strategic financial insights to drive performance and profitability.
- Align local financial strategies with group objectives through close collaboration with the Group CFO.
- Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures for Malaysia.
- Oversee accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Payroll.
- Ensure timely, accurate financial statements aligned with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS/IFRS) and Group policies.
- Manage intercompany reconciliations and eliminations between subsidiaries and the parent company.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and timely documentation submission.
- Manage cash flow, forecasting, and liquidity to optimize working capital.
- Oversee banking relationships and ensure efficient treasury operations.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian tax regulations (e.g., corporate tax, SST, withholding tax).
- Liaise with tax advisors for planning and optimization strategies.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation.
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with departments.
- Conduct financial and variance analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making.
- Recommend and implement improvements to financial systems, processes, and controls.
- Play a key role in selecting and implementing financial software as needed.
- Develop internal control frameworks to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
- Lead and mentor a team of 5-6 finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
- Manage team performance and identify training needs for continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Has minimum 3-5 years in a leadership role (e.g., Head of Finance, Financial Controller, Finance Manager)
- Essential experience in the retail industry, particularly fashion retail
- Proven experience managing financial operations for a multi-subsidiary and intercompany group, with strong knowledge of intercompany transactions and eliminations
- Understand Malaysian tax laws and financial reporting standards (MFRS/IFRS)
- Demonstrated experience in setting up and streamlining financial systems and processes
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) is highly desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively report to and collaborate with Indonesian management
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment
