- Confer with engineers, end users, and other parties to discuss existing or potential engineering or improvement projects for the processing plant.
- Collaborate with other disciplines, departments, and company installations/sites to provide technical support and recommendations during various stages of project implementation and for plant improvement.
- Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding Instrumentation and Control Systems during the various stages of a project such as: Feasibility Study, Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering
- Design, implement, and improve electrical facilities and systems for a mining processing site.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the EI teams, resolving technical issues/conflicts and ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications.
- Familiar in computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks.
- Lead and coordinate installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities related to the electrical and instrumentation discipline, to ensure compliance with international specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish construction and installation standards and specifications.
- Understand and implement methodologies and procedures to apply principles and best practices of electrical theory to engineering projects and existing installations.
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and work area instructions, participates in safety and environmental activities, and uses plant and equipment correctly.
- Support the company during the review, revise and create of company discipline (instrumentation and controls) SOP.
- Prepare specifications, datasheets for purchase of materials and equipment and/or the solicitations of labor.
- Develop both conceptual and detailed Instrumentation and Controls requirements including Instrumentation selection and guidelines to meet process requirements.
- Supervise train and mentor other Electrical/Instrumentation employees
- Oversee project construction efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
- Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
- Interpreting P&ID Drawings, review/checking loop diagrams, schematics, or other field instrumentation drawings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, regulations, and safety guidelines (e.g., ASME, API, ISO, IEC, ISA) for existing and new equipment installed on plant.
- Generate and review technical reports, specifications, and data sheets to support operational plant.
- Investigate customer complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend remedial measures.
- Develop preventative maintenance documents for instrumentation equipment newly installed
- Plan layout of electric power generating infrastructure, distribution lines, transmission lines and substations of 480-20KV.
- Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.
- Develop budgets, estimate labor, material, and construction costs.
- Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
- Conduct field surveys and study maps, graphs, diagrams, and other data to identify and correct power system problems.
- Must have strong knowledge and Support preventative maintenance including installation, repair and troubleshooting of industrical electrical and/or instrumentation equipment (i.e. switchgear motors, motor controls, systems and components, VFD drives, PLCs, management control systems, process controls, instrumentation and pneumatic equipment, control valves, calibration of field transmitters/transducers like pressure, flow, level, temperature, weigh scales and analytical instrumentation.)
- Act as Fill-in Supervisor as needed
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company
- Experience with managing and working with Engineering Consultants and Contractors
- Maintain a high level of integrity and discipline with a strong work ethic.
- Bachelors degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline with GPA 3.00
- Have minimum of four (4) years related experience in engineering relevant to Electrical or Instrumentation and Control preferably in a Mineral Processing Industry. Desirable if it includes supervisory experience.
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design principles, including familiarity with communication networks, MCC, smart relays, Preferable with:
- Experience with VFDs, PLC, HMI, and/or SCADA Control Systems
- Experience working with low and medium voltages
- Experience with AC and/or DC controls
- Experience with instrumentation devices
- Experience with diagnostic electrical test equipment
- Strong analytical thinking, communication, leadership skills
- May be required to use the following mobile equipment: light duty vehicles
- Fluent in english both spoken and written
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions related to job assignments, job procedures given in English
